cemetery aberdeen scotland roadtrip siredwards

In Aberdeen, I left my bag at the hotel and I went for a walk. A little at random through the streets. And I came across Spectra, the city’s lights festival.

For four nights, the lights push back the night. In early February, the days are short in the north of Scotland. In Aberdeen, the sun sets at 4:45 pm.

The Spectra festival takes place around the church (kirk) of St. Nicholas. In Scotland, people are used to walking around cemeteries. It’s natural, it’s part of life.

As night falls, the light shows multiply. Blue, yellow: I see the dark sky lighten up. Artists project photos, a soft music invades the space. Like all visitors, I am impressed !
