grouchos-in-dundee-more-than-a-record-store-sir-edwards-roadtrip

Groucho’s has been described by Johnny Marr as the coolest record store in Britain. I’ve been told that The Smiths guitarist always gets there when he’s in Dundee. He is not the only one. Groucho’s is a real institution.

The store has been around since 1976. Initially, it was there that all the punks in the city bought records. Today, we see all kinds of customers, old rockers and young musicians. I loved walking around the shelves.

With the development of the internet and digitized music, independent record stores have had a hard time. But Groucho’s has kept its customers. It must be said that it is the paradise for bargain hunters. As the store is run by enthusiasts, we go in as much to find a rare used record as to chat with real connoisseurs.

If Dundee’s music scene is so alive, it surely has a lot to do with Groucho’s!
