Heavy metal and kilt

While waiting for the train, I was not surprised to see this Scot with his kilt and his sweatshirt. Obviously, he is a fan of the Slipknot heavy metal band.

The kilt, made of tartan, is a dress which is several centuries old. The hoodie is much more modern. But I think the two go well together. It’s a bit like having one foot in the past, the other in the present.

When you think about it, the tartan is a fabric that always got along with rock. In the 1970s, punks wore tartan trousers. Grunge bands also adopted it in the 1990s. The tartan is a true rebel fabric. I think I’ll actually buy a kilt!
