When we go to a souvenir shop in Scotland, we find Highland cattleeverywhere: mugs, t-shirts, stuffed animals. Everyone loves them. Scots also have a special affection for these hair balls. I’m no exception to the rule!
Here, they are called « Hielan coo« . « Hielan » is the local pronunciation of « Highland » and « coo » is the Scottish version of the word cow. Once we know how to call them, we can try to find them! With their huge horns, they are easily recognisable.
These typical cows are found throughout Scotland. Loch Etive is a good place to see some. At the edge of water, it looks zen. The Hielan coo is known to be rather placid. It feeds on grass and flowers. And from time to time, it will go for a swim in the loch. It does seem like a dream life!
