In Scotland, from May to September it’s the Highland Games season. No less than 62 competitions are organised. Each one lasts one day, during which a large number of events take place: bagpipe competition, running, traditional dances, etc.
Me, I love the showdowns. They go back to the origin of these games, born probably a thousand years ago. For the clans, the goal was at the time to test the power of its members and their agility. Even today, the showdowns are spectacular. Participants throw weights, hammers and tree trunks!
Some athletes are really impressive. While having a sense of humour. With his t-shirt, this one made me laugh. With the other participants, he spent the afternoon in kilt throwing all sorts of weights, under the watchful eye of the crowd. « I wear a kilt and throw stuff » summarises the situation very well! I wish I had the same t-shirt!
