Located in the heart of the Highlands, not far from the Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle is a must-see for tourists. Perched on its island in the middle of the loch, connected to the coast by a stone bridge, it is spectacular.
But that’s not what interests me here, so I walk away a bit. The Eilean Donan Castle has become a postcard, and I prefer to show you a place that’s alive. On this pontoon, traps await the next tide. They belong to a local fisherman.
Beyond the castle, the waters of the sea lochs are home to many fish and shellfish. They are the fishermen’s happiness. I like this daily life of the inhabitants, which follows the rhythm of nature. This really helps to understand what « Scottish at heart » means.
