There are not a lot of people in the Assynt region, but the coastal road from Lochinver to Kylesku is worth the trip – it’s called the Drumbeg road, the B869. Over 30 km, you drive through hills, 25% slopes and cut coast.
And in the middle of nature, I saw this white cottage stick out from the mountain. The rays of the sun were bringing out the white paint, while a big black cloud loomed. I did not meet its inhabitants, but I imagine they are breeders or poets ! Maybe both at the same time. Scotland is a nation of poets.
I went back on the narrow road without seeing many people. In winter, the Drumbeg road is almost deserted. In the summer, tourists use it to go to the nearby beaches of Achmelvich and Clachtoll. With their white sand, they are little bits of paradise!
