In the Highland games, trunk throwers are among the most popular athletes.

The event is indeed spectacular. When we attend games, we can see that being strong is not enough, one must also be very technical.

A trunk usually measures nearly 6 meters and weighs about 80 kilos. One of the most difficult movements is to grab the trunk and hold it in balance.

Once it’s raised, the thrower starts a race and performs the throw. The trunk must make a complete turn then hit the ground. In a perfect throw, the trunk must be aligned with the thrower, as if indicating 12h.

This trunk has started well, it’s a nice throw. When I see these trunk throwing events, I am always in awe. But I always wonder who is the first person to have had such an idea!
