When I came to Aultbea from Torridon, I did not know where to set my eyes, or rather, I kept looking all over the place, I was surrounded on all sides. In front of me, Loch Ewe, a large loch that opens onto the sea.
In the centre of the loch, the island of Ewe can be seen. It is the first hill behind the small fishing port. Behind, the mountains that border the Loch, including An Cuaidh which culminate at 296 m.
On my back, it’s the same. The snowy peaks follow one another with incredible regularity: Beinn Alligin, Beinn Eighe, Slioch, An Teallach. Some peak at more than 1000 meters, while they are a few kilometres from the sea ! In winter, the weather conditions are difficult, but in the summer, I’m sure you can enjoy fantastic hikes !
