dryburgh-abbey-the-peaceful-sir-edwards-roadtrip

The Borders form the region that extends to the south of Scotland, between Edinburgh and the north of England. And Dryburgh Abbey is a must-see! I feel a great sense of calm there. The setting sun also brings out the beautiful pink colour of the Scottish stone.

Dryburgh Abbey is open for visits. I was able to discover its tormented history. Founded in the 12th century, it has been burned three times. This abbey also inspired the Scots. Sir Walter Scott was buried there.

Sir Walter Scott is a great figure of the Scottish imagination. In the 19th century, he wrote many historical novels like Rob Roy and Ivanhoé. When I look at Dryburgh Abbey, so full of history, I understand why Sir Walter Scott loved it!
