the-legend-of-scathach-sir-edwards-roadtrip

The tide is low on the Isle of Skye. In the background, the rock at the tip of the island is now visible. Five centuries ago, Dunscaiths Castle stood there proudly. There are only a few ruins left of it, but this castle is very interesting. According to a legend, it was built on a very specific location: the fortress of Scáthach.

According to what I was told, Scáthach is a fascinating figure in the mythology of the Celts. A woman mastering the art of war, who received apprentice heroes, to make them safe. Her most famous student was Cú Chulainn, one of the greatest knights of Irish mythology.

So, Cú Chulainn learned to fight exactly where I stand right now. At the end of his initiation, Scáthach handed him a magic weapon made from the bones of a sea monster.

I am starting to dream about all these stories. A magician, a legendary warrior, a sea monster … looking at this fantastic landscape, everything seems possible to me!
