In order to make Scotch whisky, the recipe is very simple but the expertise is fascinating.Only three ingredients are needed: grains, yeast and water.

There are two types of Scotch whisky, malt whisky and grain whisky. Malt whisky is made exclusively from malted barley.

Grain whisky comes from malted and unmalted barley, as well as other cereal grains. Whisky can also be produced using wheat or maize.

Barley is therefore the main cereal used in the production of Scotch whisky. This grain, which comes from rich, fertile lowlands, produces delicious aromas after the malting process.

Once the grains have been chosen, malting is the first step towards producing a characterful Scotch.

Barley has been used for centuries by the Scots to create all these high-quality whiskies.
